Dr Rajan Barokar is a highly acclaimed Intensivist with over 25 years of practice in Critical Care and Emergency Medicine.
After completing MBBS from Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital in Nagpur, he pursued MD in Internal Medicine also from Government Medical College based in Nagpur.
The Doctor later acquired a European Diploma in Intensive Care (EDIC) in 2006. Additionally, he has earned dual Fellowships in Pulmonary & Critical Care from Loyola University Medical Centre in Chicago, USA and in Intensive Care Medicine from Erasme University Hospital in Brussels, Belgium.
Dr. Barokar is a Member of the Associations of Physicians of India. He has been a Teaching Faculty in Regional as well as National Conferences & Workshops and has served as Chairman of ISCCM in Nagpur.
As a distinguished member, he is affiliated with various National and International Critical Care Societies like the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM), European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM), Indian Medical Association (IMA), Geriatric Society of India (GSI), and the Academy of Medical Sciences (AMS), Nagpur.
Dr Barokar is qualified in Advanced Ultrasound in the ICU and has undergone a 6-month specialist training in ECMO from FMRI in Gurgaon, India. As an Instructor in Critical Care Courses like CPCR, FCCS & Basic Course, he is actively involved in Educating aspiring students for Critical Care & MRCP.
An accomplished Physician and a recipient of numerous prestigious awards and citations, Dr Barokar has several of his works published in reputed journals. Over the years, he has attended to more than 20000 patients, participated and presided over many prestigious conferences and delivered lectures and discourses at national and international forums by invitation.
Currently, Dr Barokar presides over and serves as the Director of The Department of Critical Care at Nagpur-based Kingsway Hospitals. Under his able guidance and holistic leadership, the Department of Critical Care & Emergency Medicine at Kingsway Hospitals is setting the golden standard in Intensive Care. Cutting edge services encompassing acute and chronic care, awareness, advocacy, revival, rehabilitation and research and training fall under his direct purview.
According to Dr Barokar, elevating the present standards of Intensive Critical Care by infusing vitality and attention to comprehensive critical care is among his primary focal areas.
He is an ARDS Management Specialist with special interest and clinical expertise in the areas of Hepatobiliary and Gastrointestinal Critical Care, Obstetrics Critical Care, Neurocritical Care, Trauma Critical Care, ECMO, End of Life & Palliative Care, as well as Home ICU Care.
Dr. Barokar is an avid biker and prefers a Harley for his lengthy exploits. He once rode solo to Bhutan the one ride to mention amongst his biking experience of 60,000 km. He is a Pet lover and can be seen well occupied with Organic Farming.
